Car locksmith services we offer
Whether you need a car locksmith for an emergency lockout or a scheduled key replacement, I handle it on-site across Westchester County, from Yonkers and Mount Vernon in the south to Peekskill and Cortlandt at the northern edge. Everything below is mobile work: I come to the car, because a car that will not start or will not open is not going anywhere on its own.
Every automotive service I offer
Six jobs cover almost every call. Pick the one that matches what has actually gone wrong, or call and describe it and I will tell you which it is.
- Emergency Auto Locksmith, for keys locked in the car, a door that will not open, or a key lost in a parking lot. Non-damaging entry on most makes and models, at the roadside or in your driveway.
- Key Fob Programming and Reprogramming, for a fob that has stopped talking to the car, a replacement fob that needs pairing, or an extra fob for a second driver. Programmed on site rather than at a dealership.
- Transponder Key Replacement, for chipped keys that have to be cut and then coded to your vehicle before the engine will start. I carry blanks and programming equipment in the van.
- Key Duplication, for a spare before you need one. Duplicating a working key is far cheaper than originating a new one after the last key is lost, and it takes minutes.
- Broken Key Extraction, for a key that snapped in the door lock, the trunk, or the ignition. I remove the stub, check whether the break damaged the lock, and cut a replacement.
- Ignition Repair and Replacement, for an ignition that has gone stiff, sticks between positions, or will not turn at all. Often a worn cylinder rather than a dead car, and it is repairable.
What a car locksmith call costs
Automotive pricing depends on one thing more than any other: whether your key has a chip in it. A plain mechanical key or a simple lockout is at the cheap end. A transponder key or a proximity fob has to be cut and then coded to your specific vehicle, which needs equipment and a licence to use it, and that sits higher. Luxury and late-model European vehicles sit higher again.
What does not change is the process. I ask for your year, make, model, and ideally the VIN before I dispatch, so I can confirm I carry the right blank and can programme it. Then you get a firm quote before I start work, and that quote is what you pay. There is no trip charge added at the end and no price that moves once I am on site. For typical pricing across my services, see my pricing page, and every job is backed by my 5-year warranty.
One piece of advice that saves people real money: if you are down to a single working key, duplicate it now. Originating a key from scratch when every key is gone costs several times what a duplicate costs, and it takes longer.
What to have ready when you call
Automotive locksmith work is the one area where a two minute phone call saves an hour on site. Have four things to hand and I can confirm before I leave the workshop that I carry the right blank and can programme it: the year, the make, the model, and the VIN. The VIN is the seventeen character number visible through the windshield at the base of the driver side, and it is also on your registration and insurance documents.
Tell me too whether this is your last remaining key or an extra. That single fact changes the job completely. If a working key still exists I can usually duplicate and programme from it quickly. If every key is gone, the key has to be originated from the vehicle itself, which takes longer and costs more. Finally, let me know exactly where the car is parked, because a car in a home driveway, a Metro-North commuter lot, and a multi-storey garage each need a slightly different plan.
Where I work
I am a fully mobile automotive locksmith covering Westchester County, dispatching from Elmsford, minutes from I-287 and the Saw Mill River Parkway. Commuter lots generate a large share of my automotive calls, so the Metro-North stations along the Hudson line and the Harlem line are familiar ground, as are the big retail lots. If you want the detail for your town, start from the Westchester service areas page or the Westchester locksmith hub. For home and business work, see my residential locksmith services and commercial locksmith services.
My hours: Sunday open 24 hours, Monday through Thursday 6:30 AM to 11:30 PM, Friday 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. I am closed Saturday. Call +1 (914) 875‑1894 and you reach me, Oren, directly.
Car locksmith FAQs
How much does it cost to get a car key made by a locksmith?
Car key replacement depends on the vehicle make, model, and key type. Basic keys are simpler, while transponder keys and smart fobs cost more because of the programming involved. I give you an upfront, flat-rate quote before any work begins, and you can see typical pricing on my pricing page.
Can a locksmith make a car key without the original?
Yes, I can make new car keys even if you've lost all copies of the original. Using your VIN and proof of ownership, I can cut and program new keys for most vehicle makes and models on-site.
How long does it take to unlock a car?
Most car lockouts can be resolved in 5-15 minutes once I arrive. I use professional tools that won't damage your vehicle. Alpha Locks typically arrives within 25-40 minutes of your call in Westchester County.
Do you program key fobs and transponder keys?
Yes, Alpha Locks and Safe programs key fobs and transponder keys for most vehicle makes and models. I carry the equipment needed to program keys on-site, so you don't need to tow your car to a dealership.
Can you fix a broken ignition?
Yes, I repair and replace car ignitions. Common issues include keys that won't turn, ignition cylinders that are worn or damaged, and broken keys stuck in the ignition. I can often complete repairs on-site.
